This wonderful kit comes from the makers of our Harris Bear kit and is a great craft and/or gift idea for teens and preteens. Your child will use the enclosed materials to make 2 wonderful and unique hats. (See our Harris Bear for more info on felting.) The hats are made using the enclosed inflatable ball. First your child will decorate the ball by dampening narrow strips and small bits of wool and sticking to the ball. The design formed (dots, flowers, stripes, etc.) will end up on the outside of the hat. The ball is then wrapped in richly colored carded wool which is wet with warm water and soap. Your child will simply bounce the ball for 10 minutes or so to felt the wool which is then trimmed to the desired shape. This is great fun, very satisfying, and results in 2 terrific, cozy hats to wear or give away.
