Like our World Map Floor Puzzle, this extra-sturdy floor puzzle features a relatively small number of pieces (51 to be exact) so it is accessible to most children ages four and up. Each state and its capital are labeled and most states are cut as their own distinctly shaped puzzle piece to aid in hands-on learning. Each state also features an attractive picture of something distinctive about that state - an animal, landmark, key industry, etc. This is a fantastic feature that will really help make great learning connections if you take the time to discuss why each picture is featured. For example, your child will not only learn where Washington is located, he will also learn that many apples are grown in Washington . . . and he'll be thrilled to be €in the know€ when he sees a display of Washington apples in the grocery store.
Learning tip - search YouTube for €fifty nifty United States€ for a really fun song that teaches the names of all fifty states in alphabetical order. Once the song is mastered, see if your children can sing it while pointing to each state on the puzzle. It's a fun and do-able challenge!!
